New Music Festival For Adults With Learning Disabilities Gets Underway Today

A brand new music festival, set up specifically for adults with learning disabilities, kicks off today at Tapnell Farm.

The event, called One Life Festival, has been described as a music festival “like any other” – apart from its exclusivity to the neurodiverse or those with learning difficulties.

Food vans and other activities will also be provided. Co-organiser Paul Elvins hopes the fun atmosphere will mean those attending can be themselves:

“The idea behind this festival is everybody has learning disabilities and everybody will understand that everybody will have learning disabilities… so it’ll be far more relaxed and less pressured.”

Paul also brushed off comparisons with another small festival being held on the island at the end of the month:

“Many many people with Learning Disabilities go to the Isle of Wight Festival, however lots of people said they felt it wasn’t always a safe environment for them- not in the sense it’s physically unsafe but mentally they felt it wasn’t a comfortable environment for them to be in. And, of course, it’s going to be tiny compared to The Isle of Wight Festival!”
