Frozen among January’s Autism Friendly Films line-up

Frozen Disney’s latest animated blockbuster Frozen is one of three Autism Friendly Films that will be screened this month, service provider Dimensions has announced.

The other films that will be shown are Walking with Dinosaurs and Free Birds. The films will be shown at participating ODEON, Vue, Cineworld and Showcase cinemas across the country.

Cineworld cinemas will show Frozen on Sunday, January 5 at 11am. Showcase will also show the film on the following Sunday (12th) at 10am.

On the same day, ODEON cinemas will show Walking with Dinosaurs at 11.30am.

Finally, Vue will show Free Birds at 10am on Sunday, January 26 at 10am.

Disney’s Frozen tells the story of Anna, who teams up with mountain man Kristoff and his loyal reindeer Sven, to find her sister Elsa, whose power to create ice and snow has trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter.

In animated comedy Free Birds, two turkeys travel back in time to try and stop turkey from being on the first Thanksgiving menu. But what they see and who they meet changes their preconceptions of the world and themselves forever.

Walking with Dinosaurs, which is based on the 1999 BBC series, gives audiences the chance to see and feel what it was like when dinosaurs ruled the Earth. A breakthrough in technology means there are new and unique dinosaurs that are more real than ever and put moviegoers in the middle of a prehistoric adventure, where an underdog dinosaur triumphs against the odds to become a hero for the ages.

Sensory friendly environment

Autism Friendly Screenings are mainstream films shown in a sensory friendly environment. Lights are on low, sound is turned down, trailers are omitted and people can bring their own food, make noise and move around the cinema as they feel comfortable.
