Informing, inspiring and empowering families: The Oxfordshire Family Support Network

The Oxfordshire Family Support Network (Oxfsn) is a not-for-profit organisation run by and for family carers of people with learning disabilities. Gail Hanrahan set up the Oxfordshire Family Support Network in 2007, alongside another parent who also has a child with a learning disability. Their aim was to develop a network of support for family carers at a local level, providing parents with the tools and skills to navigate the world of learning disability. What drove the start-up of the Oxfordshire Family Support Network ? Gail’s son, Guy, who will be turning 31 next month, has a profound learning disability
