Animated sequels Monsters University and Smurfs 2, along with family comedy Parental Guidance will be August’s Autism Friendly Films.
The films will be shown at participating ODEON, Vue and Cineworld cinemas across the country.
Cineworld will show Monsters University at 11am on Sunday, August 4, while ODEON cinemas will show Smurfs 2 at 11.30am on August 18th. Vue will show Parental Guidance on Sunday August 25 at 10am.
Monsters University tells the story of how Mike and Sulley from Monsters, Inc met – and that they weren’t always the best of friends.
Meanwhile, in Smurfs 2, the Smurfs team up with their human friends to rescue Smurfette, who has been kidnapped by their enemy Gargamel because she knows a spell that can turn the sorcerer’s newest creation – creatures called the Naughties – into real Smurfs.
Finally, in Parental Guidance two grandparents step in to look after their three grandchildren when their parents have to go away for work. When the kids’ 21st-century attitudes collide with their grandparents’ old-school methods, hilarity ensues.
Sensory friendly environment
Autism Friendly Screenings are mainstream films shown in a sensory friendly environment. Lights are on low, sound is turned down, trailers are omitted and people can bring their own food, make noise and move around the cinema as they feel comfortable. The scheme is run by service provider Dimensions.
