Service users take centre stage at Scottish Care Awards

michelle mcmanusTwo residents from a home that supports adults with learning disabilities and complex needs took to the stage at the Scottish Care Awards to present an award for healthy living last month.

The duo from Trinity House in Lockerbie, Annette and Nigel, proudly presented the ‘Nutrition and Eating Well’ award alongside singer Michelle McManus at the glitzy event at Glasgow’s Hilton Hotel.

The awards recognise excellence and commitment in the care sector throughout Scotland and Annette and Nigel took part as representatives of care provider Danshell.

Special guest Ranald Mair, chief executive of Scottish Care, addressed the Haggis, as is tradition, before former Pop Idol winner McManus entertained the guests with several songs.

Ori Zaidman, Danshell’s director of corporate development, said: “A great night was had by all at the Scottish Care Awards. It was a wonderfully proud day for Danshell as we watched Annette and Nigel take to the stage with such confidence to present the award. They were brilliant and we were so pleased that they were able to take part.”
