Sunnyside House’s My LIFE training programme is helping residents with learning disabilities to learn the skills they need to not just live an independent life but thrive in their own home. Editor Dan Parton reports: For Gavin, who lives at Sunnyside House, a residential home for adults with learning disabilities near Thurrock in Essex, three-and-a-half years of hard work are about to pay off as he takes his first steps towards an independent life. The 25-year-old will soon move into Sunnyside’s transition flat, which is attached to the main house, where he will be able to live on his own
