Priory Group acquires specialist education and care provider

handshakePriory Group, a provider of behavioural care, has acquired Progress Care, a specialist education and care group based in Lancashire.

Preston-based Progress operates 44 beds from 10 care homes, including two homes for children and eight for adults, in addition to a school for 24 young people. Progress specialises in supporting children and young adults with severe learning disabilities, challenging behaviour and autism.

The acquisition of Progress adds to Priory’s existing services in Preston through Oliver House School.

Tom Riall, chief executive of Priory Group, said: “Progress is an exceptional business with a reputation for excellent quality care and education – it is a fantastic fit for Priory, and I am delighted to welcome the team to the Group. This is a strong partnership that will contribute to our Education and Children’s Services and Craegmoor divisions as we continue to build on our success in the future.”

Michael and Margaret Calvert, founders of Progress Care, said: “We are very proud of what we have achieved as a specialist care provider over the past two decades. Priory has a world-leading reputation for delivering outstanding services and it is the perfect home for Progress.”
