Cinema fans with autism have the opportunity to view two films in March thanks to the Autism Friendly Films initiative.
The 21 Cineworld cinemas that participate in the scheme will be screening Disney Pixar’s children’s animation Tinkerbell: Secret of the Wings on Sunday, March 3 at 11am.
Meanwhile, more than 90 ODEON cinemas will be showing Disney fantasy adventure Oz: The Great and Powerful, on Sunday, March 17 at 11.30am.
Tinkerbell: Secret of the Wings sees the eponymous fairy meet her sister Periwinkle and venture into the winter woods with her and her other friends to find the secret of fairy wings.
In Oz: The Great and Powerful, a small-time circus magician, Oscar Diggs, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz. At first he thinks he’s hit the jackpot-fame and fortune are his for the taking. That all changes when he meets three witches, who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly, Oscar is drawn into the problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, and he must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late.
Autism Friendly Screenings are mainstream films shown in a sensory friendly environment. Lights are on low, sound is turned down, trailers are omitted and people can bring their own food, make noise and move around the cinema as they feel comfortable.
