Autism Friendly FilmsAnimated children’s films The Angry Birds Movie and Thomas and Friends: The Great Race are among June’s Autism Friendly Films line-up, service provider Dimensions has announced.

Thomas and Friends: The Great Race will be screened at selected Showcase cinemas on Sunday, June 12 at 10am. On the following Sunday, selected ODEON cinemas will also show the film, starting at 11.30am. Selected Vue cinemas will also show the film on Sunday, June 26 at 10am.

In addition, for older viewers, 9 selected ODEON cinemas will show The Boss (12A) on Monday 20 June at 6pm.

The Angry Birds Movie is based on the popular game of the same name and provides the answer to why the birds are so angry. When a paradise island populated by flightless birds is visited by mysterious green piggies, it is up to 3 outsiders – Red, Chuck and Bomb – to find out what they are up to.

In Thomas and Friends: The Great Race, the eponymous tank engine wants to represent Sodor at the Great Railway Show, which is taking place on the mainland. But the bigger engines say he’s not big, strong or fast enough to compete with the best engines from around the world. But Thomas is determined to find a way and go up against international competition from new engines including Raul of Brazil, Yong Bao of China, Ivan of Russia and the brightly decorated engine from India, Ashima. But his plans all go wrong and the devious Diesel threatens his chances to compete – can he and his friends overcome them and win out?

Finally, The Boss tells the story of a successful businesswoman is sent to prison after she’s caught insider trading, but then, on her release, tries to rebrand herself as America’s sweetheart. However, she finds that not everyone she screwed over before is so quick to forgive and forget.
