Family films Rio 2, Muppets Most Wanted and Escape from Planet Earth will be April’s Autism Friendly Films, service provider Dimensions has announced.
On Sunday, April 6, Cineworld and ODEON cinemas will show Rio 2, starting at 11am and 11.30am respectively.
Showcase will show Muppets Most Wanted on Sunday, April 13 at 10am.
Finally, Vue will show Escape From Planet Earth on Sunday, April 27, again starting at 10am.
In Rio 2, Blu, Jewel and their three kids venture from the city into the wilds of the Amazon for a family reunion. Out of his element in a land he doesn’t know, Blu must face his most fearsome adversary – his father-in-law – while evading Nigel the cockatoo’s fiendish plans for revenge.
In comedy caper Muppets Most Wanted, the Muppets get wrapped up in a European jewel-heist headed by a Kermit the Frog look-alike and his dastardly sidekick. Ricky Gervais and Tina Fey are among the humans who star alongside Kermit, Miss Piggy and the other Muppets.
Finally, in Escape From Planet Earth, when planet Baab’s hero astronaut Scorch Supernova is caught in a trap on a notoriously dangerous blue planet, it is up to his nerdy by-the-rules brother, Gary, to rescue him and, ultimately, save his home planet.
Sensory friendly environment
Autism Friendly Screenings are mainstream films shown in a sensory friendly environment. Lights are on low, sound is turned down, trailers are omitted and people can bring their own food, make noise and move around the cinema as they feel comfortable.
