Pupils at Manchester Progressive School got into the Children in Need spirit last Friday by holding a special cake sale with all profits contributing to the grand total of £31 million raised on the night.
The children, who all have complex needs such as autism and learning disabilities, did all the baking themselves including specially designed Pudsey bear-shaped biscuits to represent the Children in Need mascot.
The cookies and cakes were created and decorated during an afternoon of baking fun. Friends, family and neighbours popped in later in the day to buy some of the sweet treats.
Vicci Clark, senior teacher at Manchester Progressive School, said: “We had great fun baking for Children in Need last week. The Pudsey Bear biscuits were delicious and we managed to raise some money for charity at the same time, which made them even sweeter!”
Manchester Progressive School is part of the European Care Group and provides a supportive educational environment for young people aged 8 to 19 with complex needs including autism and learning disabilities.
Students undertake courses that enable them to develop and increase their independence by providing high quality education based on an alternative or community-based curriculum.
