A UK-based charity has created new resources to safeguard and empower young people with Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) when they are online.
Childnet’s new project, Thrive Online, is designed to help educators, parents and carers to support young people aged 11 and over to use the internet in a safe and meaningful way.
The free resources cover important topics such as digital wellbeing, healthy online relationships and online pornography.
There are separate resources available for educators and parents and carers. Educators will have access to a series of three lessons and films designed to initiate discussions in the classroom.
The viewer will discover how to navigate online spaces, learning essential strategies and how to recognise the impact of online behaviour and actions.
Parents and carers will be taught how to provide support to young people as they begin to use the internet through a series of short films.
The films provide answers to important questions around supporting online relationships, managing their digital wellbeing and how to tackle issues around online pornography.
All the resources are completely free and can be downloaded online from the Childnet website.
