A new music festival aimed at people with learning disabilities has been launched and will take place in July.
The Abundance Music Festival will take place at the Foxlease Activity Centre Clay in Lyndhurst, Hampshire from July 15-17. The Friday will be a private party exclusively for people with learning disabilities. The festival will then open to the public from 6pm on Friday evening for a whole weekend of family festival fun. Camping is included in the ticket price, with early bird weekend tickets starting at £55.
The festival’s line-up of more than 30 bands and DJs includes: Norway’s The Berserk Bastards, Larry Love of Alabama 3’s O’Connell and Love, Z Star, Reggae legends Trojan MC’s with special guest Earl Gateshead, The Beatbox Collective – world beatbox champions 2015, The Egg, house legend DJ Nicky Holloway (Radio One, Ibiza) and Sian Evans from Kosheen with Ron Mc’Elroy.
Alongside the music programme, the festival features a skateboard ramp, circus big top, fire dancers, live graffiti, cinema and a fire pit with storytelling – and much more. The festival will also offer a variety of boutique food vendors and a licensed bar serving local fare. In addition, Foxlease will be running activities including a zip wire, archery, high ropes, climbing tower and tunnelling.
Abundance joins a roster of festivals aimed at people with learning disabilities, including the annual Apulstock festival, which is also held in July.
Early Bird day tickets for Abundance are available for the first 200 people at £30. After that, day tickets cost £45.
Early bird three day tickets are on offer to the first 500 who apply at £55. After that, three day tickets cost £80, although carers go free.
Camping at Abundance is free and included in the ticket price, and camper vans are welcome for a small extra parking charge.
There are specialist toilets available with a hoist and flatbed, and there will be a sensory tent away from the noise of the main festival.
