New autism guide launched for councillors

A new guide has been issued to local councillors, setting out what they need to know about mental health and autism services for children in their area.

The guide, called Difference in mind, aims to help council’s overview and scrutiny committees to find out how child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) are supporting children with autism in their area. The guidance was issued as part of The National Autistic Society’s You Need To Know campaign, and was produced in partnership with the Centre for Public Scrutiny (CfPS). NAS and CfPS hope the overview and scrutiny committees will use the report to run a scrutiny review to look at how CAMHS are working in their area, and to look at what can be improved.

The report can be downloaded from the CfPS website.
