Lifeways acquires Care UK’s Learning Disability Division

handshakeSupport provider Lifeways Group has acquired Care UK’s Learning Disability Division, which supports about 1,000 individuals in supported living, residential care and day services.

All existing management and support staff teams will remain in place after the acquisition so service users and commissioners should not see any change in services. Contracts will remain with the current providers and Chris Hindle, managing director of the Learning Disability Division, and his team will continue to develop and grow the business with the support of the Lifeways.

Paul Marriner, group chief executive of Lifeways, said: “We are absolutely delighted with the acquisition of the Learning Disability Division of Care UK. We have tracked the business for a number of years and have been impressed with its progress. We are excited by the opportunity to work with Chris Hindle and his team. We will continue to provide high quality, person-centred services to the individuals they support, their families, and commissioners.”

Care UK is refocusing its portfolio of health and social care services as part of a strategic programme to focus on developing its primary and secondary NHS health services provision and its residential care services.

Mike Parish, chief executive of Care UK, said: “I consider Care UK’s learning disability services to be amongst the best in the country for personalisation and quality and our teams will contribute hugely to Lifeways’ continuing success.

“I greatly appreciate the commitment of all colleagues within our learning disability services and the outstanding contribution they have made to Care UK’s success. I wish them well within the Lifeways organisation.”
