Learning disability football team celebrates top-three finish in local disability league

Langford TigersThe Langford Tigers football team celebrated their top-three finish at the Sussex Disability Football League annual presentation recently.

In addition, the team, from Bramley Health’s Langford Centre, also came runners up in the League Cup.

The presentation took place at the University of Sussex in Falmer and was a great way for the team to celebrate their achievements, each receiving a participation medal and certificate.

The Langford Centre provides a comprehensive range of treatments tailored to individual needs, for patients in low secure, locked rehabilitation and residential environments.

Rebecca Ponchard, occupational therapist at the Langford Centre, said: “Competing and doing well in the football league gives such an incredible sense of achievement to our service users. It is fantastic they get the opportunity to socialise with like-minded people and they continue to enjoy every moment.

“Our patients love football and we are so grateful they are able to take part in something they are so passionate about.”

Clare Nichols, football development officer at the Sussex Disability Football League, said: “It is clear to see the enjoyment that the players get from playing football in an organised and competitive league, as with any football league season there are highs and lows so it is rewarding to see all the clubs come together for the end of Season event and celebrate together their personal and collective achievements.”
