Lottie, a Later Living Platform, has pledged to give away 1,000 free overnight stays exclusively for carers in the UK.
The give away is part of plans to reduce the burden on carers who have been disproportionately affected by the cost of living crisis.
Family carers, who receive just £69.70 a week from the UK government, have been increasingly turning to Google for mental health support.
Research by Lottie has revealed that, in the last 12 months, there has been a 200% increase in online searches for ‘parent carer burnout’ and a 75% increase in searches for ‘carer stress syndrome’.
Stay for free at a digital detox cabin in the countryside
With the social care sector also severely underfunded, thousands of carers are facing a lack of support and poor working conditions, and are in desperate need of respite.
For this reason, Lottie has teamed up with Unplugged to give away free stays at one of their digital detox cabin sites in the UK countryside.
There will be 33 winners announced, each of whom will with a free three-night stay for themselves and a plus one, with more giveaways to be announced in the near future.
Will Donnelly co-founder Lottie said: “The support for those on the frontline of the social care sector doesn’t stop there; we want to continue championing them through our pledge of 1,000 free night stays at a variety of hotels and cabins, exclusively for carers and social care workers. Nights On Lottie X Unplugged is only the beginning.”
Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke has endorsed the campaign, saying: “The majority of adults will care for a family member or friend at some point in their lives, and naturally the impact on a whole range of things are underestimated.
“This initiative is a way of giving much needed respite to carers both paid and unpaid on the frontline”.
