Choice Support acquires Roy Kinnear Charitable Foundation

handshakeSocial care charity Choice Support has bought learning disability housing provider the Roy Kinnear Charitable Foundation.

The Foundation joined Choice Support’s group structure on October 3, initially as a wholly owned subsidiary. It manages Roy Kinnear House in Twickenham, which provides a home for life for 8 people with profound and complex learning and physical disabilities who need nursing care, a high degree of personal care and significant social support.

Sarah Hadley, the Roy Kinnear Charitable Foundation’s chair of trustees, said: “Our two organisations share a common vision of supporting people with disabilities in the way they want and enabling them to participate as fully as possible in society. As a small independent service operating in an at times challenging environment, this partnership will enable us to consolidate and modernise our approach, to the ultimate benefit of our residents.”

Steven Rose, Choice Support’s chief executive, added: “I’d like to welcome the residents and staff of Roy Kinnear House to Choice Support. We are delighted to be working closely with everyone involved and to be helping to take forward all of the good work that has been undertaken.

“As a large national charity we can help enhance the lifestyles of residents by offering support with quality assurance and training. We can also provide back office support including finance, HR, marketing and IT support. These are all areas where smaller, isolated organisations often struggle to get good services. Choice Support already has a significant presence in South London so there will be an immediate opportunity for everyone at Roy Kinnear House to start to feel part of Choice Support. We are also looking forward to establishing ourselves in the London borough of Richmond.”
