handshakeCare and housing services providers Eden Supported Living and Essential Futures are to merge, it has been announced.

Essential Futures provides about 5,600 hours of support and care per week to service users in Warwickshire, Coventry and the surrounding areas. Alongside supported living, the organisation also offers day services such as self-help skills and an in-house occupational therapy service.

The combined group will provide support and partnered housing solutions for more than 500 people with a range of disabilities and support needs – including learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities and enduring mental health needs – in Warwickshire, Yorkshire and the East Midlands. This includes independent living options across the whole care pathway, from outreach support and supported living options to a small independent hospital for individuals requiring care under the Mental Health Act.

It will be business as usual for service users, commissioners and frontline support staff, the organisations have said.

Essential Futures is the second organisation to join Eden this year; Housing & Support Solutions, a supported living business based in Lincolnshire became part of the group in June.

Eden’s CEO, Alistair How, said: “Essential Futures has an outstanding reputation for the quality of care it provides, which is truly centred around the needs of each individual service user. We are delighted to welcome Essential Futures’ staff to our group and we look forward to working together to help the people in our care to live their lives as independently as possible.”
