Ambitious about Autism are working with the government to offer 60 young autistic people a three-week work experience opportunity in the Civil Service.

To qualify, you must be autistic, aged between 18 and 25 at the time of internship, and achieved a minimum of two GCSE's (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade 4-9 (or A*-C).

Those who are selected will be paid for their work

The scheme will give young autistic people the opportunity to experience the Civil Service first-hand and gain insight into the workplace. Those who are selected will also have the chance to participate in developmental coaching sessions and other activities.

Ambitious about Autism says the experience will provide autistic people with the opportunity “to see what it is like to work inside this important organisation.”
The programme will be offered in various locations across the UK, but will also be available online, enabling participants to work from home.

Those who are accepted onto the programme will receive £350 per week, a total of £1,050 for the entire programme (before tax). The organisers note that they are not able to reimburse participants for the cost of travel and lunch.

Application deadline is Friday 3 December
