Mencap ambassador George Webster has become a new guest presenter of BBC’s CBeebies and his appointment was given a warm welcome this week across social media.
The 20-year-old from Leeds, who has Down’s syndrome, is an actor, dancer and has previously appeared in a BBC Bitesize video aimed at dispelling the myths of Down’s syndrome.
George said: “The reaction has been amazing and I am so happy to have so much support. I am over the moon and overjoyed. It’s brilliant. All the positive feedback has been overwhelming.”
Mencap said George was a brilliant role model and it would be great that he could introduce himself to so many people.
The Down’s Syndrome Association added that they were thrilled to see that George is the new CBeebies House presenter and were incredibly proud of this “amazing young man”.
